How Help Can Hurt When We Misunderstand What Someone Needs

About the event
Most of us have been taught that when someone needs help, helping is the right thing to do. And often it is.
But needing help can carry more than the need itself. What is offered, how it is offered, what changes when it is received, and what both people believe is happening can begin shaping the experience in ways neither person intended.
The person helping intentions may be completely different than what
the person receiving the help may be experiencing .
And when those two experiences do not match, behavior can start getting interpreted.
Together, we will reveal what may be shaping the way help is given and received, reframe some of the assumptions we make about the behavior that follows, and rebuild responses that are more aligned with the goal we actually have.
